Tips for Digestion, Gas & Bloating

In Ayurveda, the quality of your Agni (the digestive fire, AKA your metabolism) is responsible for a good digestive system and good health overall. If you are gasy, bloated, or not digesting your food properly on a daily bases, this is an indication of low or weaken Agni.

During the Spring time, its especially important to give a little more attention to our bodies, specifically our digestive system and organs like the liver and gallbladder.

1. Very important to take note of how you feel after certain foods. What foods did you notice created more gas for you specifically? What foods made you feel sluggish and heavy for a lot longer than you anticipated? Its questions like this we need to start paying attention to to learn to read what our bodies are trying to tell us. Often times, in our busy world, this gets so overlooked, while our bodies are so intelligent that they can actually tell us what is good for us and what is not.

2. Take note of food combination. Are you combining way to many crazy things together in one meal? Can you simplify your meals a little more?

How fast are you chewing? Can you slow down your chewing to about 30 chews per bit of food?! I know sounds crazy, but try it! Don't take my word for it, experiment yourselves!

3. At the moment of Indigestion or Gas/Bloating, combat it with this simple remedy.

Squeeze about 1 teaspoon of fresh Lime juice, 2 slices of fresh ginger

and add to a cup of warm water. Drink this after eating or anytime you feel bloated, gasy, or indigestion.

Ginger really helps dispel gas and bloating, and is great to use especially not in the Spring time! Lime makes your mouth water just talking about it and it starts to secret digestive enzymes into the mouth and increases Agni!

Stay Balanced and remember YOU and your kitchen are your best Pharmacy!
